Factors affecting the stability and shelf life of UV ink

What is the effect of different resins of water-based inks on pigments?

Water based inks are made up of water. One of the functions is to improve the fluidity of the printing ink, which can bring the printing ink from the engraving ink tank of the pattern roller to the printed body. When the resin and pigment are brought to the printed body, the excess water must be removed, and the removal ratio in the printing process affects its drying speed. The water in the printing ink is not added arbitrarily, and the pH value and hardness of the water will affect the dryness.

The control of pH value is an important factor in water-based printing ink, and pH value will affect the viscosity of water-based printing ink. In typical water-based inks, the general pH value Z should be between 8 and 9. Pigments give ink color characteristics and meet the color requirements of printing. Since most of the resins of water-based inks are alkali soluble, alkali resistant pigments need to be used when choosing pigments.

Moreover, the density of pigment, surface tension and polarity of water in water-based printing ink are greatly different from those of solvent, which directly affects the stability, viscosity and pH value of printing ink. Usually, surfactant can be added to adjust the affinity between resin and water, and the affinity between pigment and water-soluble binder, so as to solve the stability of printing ink.

The printing speed and ink drying speed are inconsistent. The printing speed and ink drying speed directly affect the inking rate of printed matter. Therefore, the change of printing speed and ink drying speed will cause the change of ink color on printed matter. Improper use of the scraper, the position of the scraper, the angle of the scraper, the pressure of the scraper and the pressure of the embossing cylinder have a great impact on the ink color, especially the color of the ink in the shallow part. Different composite processing processes, heat sealing of bag wide edge welding, composite inner film composite with different colors, or direct vacuum aluminizing after printing also have a certain impact on the color of printed matter.
