Raw material preparation: The main raw materials are phenol and formaldehyde, and catalysts are usually added. Select appropriate catalysts based on the type of phenolic resin prepared (thermosetting or thermoplastic), such as alkaline catalysts such as sodium hydroxide and barium hydroxide commonly used for thermosetting phenolic resins, and acidic catalysts such as oxalic acid and phosphoric acid commonly used for thermoplastic phenolic resins. Perform purity testing and pretreatment on phenol and formaldehyde to ensure that the raw material quality meets production requirements.


Reaction stage: Add the prepared phenol and formaldehyde in a certain proportion to the reaction vessel, while adding an appropriate amount of catalyst. Start heating and warming up under stirring conditions. The reaction temperature is generally controlled at 80-100 ℃, and the reaction time depends on the degree of polymerization and performance requirements of the resin, usually 2-4 hours. During the reaction process, phenol and formaldehyde undergo condensation reaction, producing oligomers of phenolic resin. Strict control of temperature and reaction time is required during the reaction process to ensure that the molecular structure and properties of the resin meet expectations.


Dehydration and post-treatment: After the reaction is complete, the water and unreacted small molecules such as formaldehyde in the reaction system are removed by vacuum distillation. The dehydrated resin may undergo further processing as needed, such as cooling and crushing of thermosetting phenolic resin after dehydration for subsequent use; Thermoplastic phenolic resin may require the addition of an appropriate amount of curing agent and other additives, mixed evenly to produce granular products.
